Resources

We are understanding the resources we have available in meeting net zero.

Every part of our day-to-day lives relies on a variety of natural resources. They power our economy and sustain our homes. But the growing global demand for finite resources, coupled with environmental concerns about how these resources are used and the resulting emissions, and uneven distribution, underscores the necessity for responsible management, use, conservation, and innovation to ensure their availability for current and future generations.

It’s important to understand the resources we have available in meeting the net zero challenge and ask how we find and extract geological resources responsibly, how we can move to a circular economy and substitute resources which are scarce or of questionable provenance with sustainable alternatives or those materials previously considered to be waste, and how we ensure a fair and sustainable use of land, water, and energy.
