Innovation and technology
Our world is changing, and the face of medicine is too. Keeping up with the very latest in technology helps us to train better doctors, which is why we are investing in cutting-edge teaching and learning environments.
We’ve added a range of digital and technology-assisted teaching methods to our curriculum, including the use of an immersive projection room based in the University Hospital of Wales. This 360 degree experience combines immersive screens and touch screen technology to allow you to explore parts of the body in minute detail in small group teaching or practise medical techniques in simulated environments.
Watch a video about the 360 degree immersive teaching room here.
We’re using Virtual Reality in our teaching, to give you a closer look at certain core elements of our curriculum, such as basic sciences, anatomy and physiology.

As the technology develops, learning tools like AI-simulation are being explored by our academic staff, to establish how it might be used to complement your clinical skills learning and help you gain confidence in treating your patients.

Join us for teaching with access to a range of e-learning resources, as well as online immersive resources such as a walk-through virtual laboratory, and the Wales Virtual Hospital.
