English Language Programmes’ Academic English Skills team provide free classes and one-to-one tutorials to current international students whose first language is not English. We can support you with advice on the skills you need for academic study in the UK.
We provide classes and workshops in:
- academic writing skills
- academic English grammar
- speaking skills
- pronunciation skills
- everyday English
- reading skills
- presentation skills
- English for dissertation/thesis writing
You can sign up for some free one-to-one tutorials with an English tutor to support you with writing and speaking skills, or other issues related to English language.
There are a number of online self-study resources to help you develop your English for academic purposes, such as:

- grammar
- listening
- reading
- speaking
