Dechreuais fy ngyrfa academaidd fel macroeconomegydd ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl yn addysgu macro-economeg ac economeg ariannol. Ar ôl treulio tair blynedd fel daroganwr macro-economaidd yn yr NIESR, deuthum yn rhan o Grŵp Ymchwil Macro-economaidd Lerpwl a helpu i ddatblygu model disgwyliadau rhesymegol cyntaf economi'r DU wrth weithio ar gyfer fy PhD. Fi oedd ei Brif Ragfynegydd am 10 mlynedd cyn symud i Ysgol Busnes Caerdydd yn 1989. Dychwelais i Lerpwl i Brifysgol John Moores Lerpwl fel Athro Bancio a Chyllid, gan rannu fy amser gyda Lombard Street Research yn y Ddinas fel ei Economegydd y DU. Dychwelais i Gaerdydd yn 1996 fel Athro Syr Julian Hodge mewn Bancio a Chyllid a hefyd yn Bennaeth Economeg am 9 mlynedd a Deon Cyswllt Ymgysylltu a Chysylltiadau Rhyngwladol (3 blynedd).

Rwyf wedi gweithio ym meysydd modelu macro-economaidd, rhagweld economaidd, economeg bancio, modelu economi'r cysgodion. Tra'n arbenigo mewn bancio a chyllid, rwyf hefyd yn gweld fy hun fel economegydd cymhwysol a gallaf gymhwyso offer mdelling mewn economeg i feysydd doethach mewn economeg. Ar hyn o bryd rwy'n addysgu modiwl ôl-raddedig ar Bynciau mewn Arian, Bancio a Chyllid.
Mae fy mhrofiad addysgu wedi mynd â mi drwy macro-economeg israddedig, economeg ariannol, ac economeg bancio ym Mhrifysgolion Caerdydd a Lerpwl ar lefel blwyddyn 3, ac Arian, Bancio a Chyllid yng Nghaerdydd, a macro-economeg yn Lerpwl ar lefel blwyddyn 2. Rwyf wedi dysgu macro-economeg israddedig yng Ngorllewin Ontario, Canada ar lefel 2 a 3, Clemson, UDA ar lefel 2; a Geldtheorie yn KU Leuven ar lefel y flwyddyn olaf.
Ar y lefel graddedig, rwyf wedi dysgu macro-economeg yng Nghaerdydd, KU Leuven, a Humbolt; Economeg Bancio yng Nghaerdydd, LJMU. a Phrifysgol Nottinham Tsieina; Cyllid Rhyngwladol yn Western.
Ar y lefel PhD, rwyf wedi dysgu Economeg Bancio yng Nghaerdydd a Phrifysgol Fudan.

Rwyf wedi gweithio yn y byd academaidd, ymgynghoriaeth economaidd, a sefydliadau ymchwil drwy gydol fy ngyrfa. Dechreuais fel Cynorthwyydd Ymchwil Iau a Rhaglennydd Cyfrifiadurol yn LSE cyn cymryd fy ngradd yn yr un sefydliad. Cefais ddiddordeb mewn ymchwil economaidd ar ôl graddio yn 1974 a threulio rhai misoedd yn y Ganolfan Economeg Drefol yn LSE, ac yna treuliais dair blynedd yn y Sefydliad Cenedlaethol Ymchwil Economaidd a Chymdeithasol yn Llundain, cyn mynd i Brifysgol Lerpwl i astudio ar gyfer fy PhD o dan Patrick Minford. Tra yn NIESR, cymerais fy MSc mewn Economeg ym Mhrifysgol Coleg Birkbeck Llundain. Cymerais ddarlithyddiaeth mewn Economeg Ariannol ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl yn 1978 ac arhosais yn Lerpwl nes i mi ymuno â Phrifysgol Caerdydd yn 1989. Tra roeddwn yn Lerpwl, roeddwn yn rhan o Grŵp Ymchwil Macro-economaidd Lerpwl o dan yr Athro Patrick Minford a'i Brif Ragolygwr gan ddefnyddio model disgwyliadau rhesymegol cyntaf y DU ar gyfer rhagweld a dadansoddi polisi.
Rwyf wedi cynnal apwyntiadau ymchwil gwadd ym Mhrifysgol Leuven (Gwlad Belg), Banc Lloegr, Prifysgol Clemson (S Carolina), Lombard Street Research, Awdurdod Ariannol Hong Kong, Prifysgol Fudan (Shanghai), Prifysgol De-ddwyrain (Nanjing), a Phrifysgol Economeg a'r Gyfraith Zhongnan, (Wuhan).
