Professor Marysia Zalewski has degrees from the University of East Anglia and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She has an international research profile, and is the author or coeditor of six internationally acclaimed books, and author or co-author of some 50 plus essays/articles in peer reviewed outputs. Her research has been supported by the British Academy, The Royal Society of Edinburgh, The Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland and The British Council. In recognition of her international research profile, her major impact on the development of critical IR, and her mentorship of junior scholars, she was presented with an Eminent Scholar Award in 2013 by the International Studies Association. She was the first British scholar to receive this particular award since its inception in 1990. Her research is located at the intersections of critical international relations theory, feminist theory (broadly conceived), queer theory and political theory. Her mode of enquiry is (loosely) poststructural. Currently she is engaged in critical projects on sexual violence against men, the future of sexual violence, sexed violence and terrorism, performance and knowledge production in international politics and creative writing in IR. She has extensive senior management experience (including being Head of School of Social Science at the University of Aberdeen (2011-2014)).
