Magnificent Seven gain global recognition in international awards

An English Literature student is one of seven Cardiff University to be highly commended in 2017 Undergraduate Awards, achieving recognition in the top 10% of the thousands of entries.
Often referred to as a “junior Nobel Prize”, The Undergraduate Awards is the world’s largest international academic awards programme, recognising excellent research and original work across the humanities, business and creative arts.
The Highly Commended entrants from Cardiff University are students of Business, Chemical and Pharmaceutical, Computer Sciences, English Literature, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.
Cardiff University had the fifth highest number of submissions in Europe, and was fourteenth internationally.
The Undergraduate Awards received a record number of submissions in the 2017 programme, with 6,432 papers from 299 institutions representing 47 countries. The top 10% of submissions in each category gain Highly Commended status.
Highly commended in the Literature category, Amelia Baugh said: “I’m extremely honoured to have been highly commended in the literature category. To have been given recognition for work on a subject that is so important to me makes me feel very lucky indeed."
"I am about to start my MA in English Literature, and I would not be on such a journey had it not been for the expert guidance and nurturing from the faculty at Cardiff University. I would urge any student who is proud of a piece of work they have created to enter the Undergraduate Awards.”
The Highly Commended entrants are invited to attend the annual Undergraduate Awards Global Summit in Dublin in November.
