New Research Institutes given go-ahead

New flagship University Research Institutes (URIs), designed to pool the very best research talent and focus on the world's biggest grand challenges, have been given the go ahead. 

Building on the success of the University's existing URIs – the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute, Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institute, Sustainable Places and Cardiff Catalysis Institute – three new URIs will be officially launched later this year with plans for others in the pipeline. These will focus on research into the following areas:

• Crime and Security
• Energy Systems
• Systems Immunity
