The School of Chemistry welcomes new staff member Professor Nora de Leeuw

Professor Nora de Leeuw joined the University in January 2015 as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor, International & Europe, and additionally, her personal research programme will be based in the School of Chemistry, where she will hold the post of Professor in Computational Chemistry. 

Nora joins us from the Department of Chemistry, University College London, where she was Professor of Computational Materials Science. AT UCL she was Head of Research and Deputy Head of the Chemistry Department. She was also Director of the UCL Industrial Doctorate Centre for Molecular Modelling and Materials Science, which is a training and research centre for doctoral students spanning across the Physical, Biomedical and Engineering Sciences, with sponsorship from industry, national laboratories and international research institutes. Nora also continues to be a part-time Professor of Theoretical Geochemistry and Mineralogy in Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

She has an internationally leading research profile, with expertise in the area of computational materials chemistry. Nora's research interests are broad and are focused on sustainable energy; CO2 capture, storage and utilisation; nuclear energy materials; biomass conversion; biomaterials; surface science & catalysis and mineral nucleation and crystal growth.
