The Undergraduate Awards ceremony in progress

Zuzanna Stone, an MEng Civil Engineering student at Cardiff University School of Engineering, has been named as Highly Commended in the Undergraduate Awards 2015.

Zuzanna is in the top ten per cent from a total of five thousand, one hundred and seventeen submissions. She is contending to win her category on September 23rd, when just fifty students will be announced as winners.

The Undergraduate Awards (UA) is an international academic awards programme which celebrates and supports the world’s brightest undergraduate students by recognising their coursework and projects. Students are selected for their innovative approach to their chosen subject area and their ability to address some of the world’s greatest challenges with creativity and lateral thinking. The programme has been under the patronage of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, since February 2012.

Zuzanna is no stranger to hard work. During her time here at Cardiff University she has worked as the project co-ordinator of Environmental Champions. Her commitment to the project was awarded a 200 Hour Millennium Volunteering Award of Excellence, signed by the First Minister of Wales.

As a Highly Commended UA candidate, Zuzanna has received a certificate and will have her work published in the Undergraduate Library, which will be launched early next year. She is also eligible to attend the exclusive Global Summit in Dublin.
