School of Medicine joins forces with Velindre Cancer Centre and Macmillan GP to provide free CPD to primary healthcare professionals

The Community Oncology team, led by Cardiff University and supported by the CPD Unit, has delivered a series of free webinars to support primary care teams during COVID-19.
We’re delighted to report that feedback from attendees has been extremely positive, with 99% of respondents rating the programme as excellent or very good.
The aim of the programme was to support the learning needs of healthcare professionals in oncology issues that may be encountered in primary care, particularly during the pandemic.
The programme was comprised of 6 sessions, covering GI cancers, Lung cancers, Cancers of unknown primary, Skin cancers, Communication skills, and Geriatrics.

- 99% of respondents will use the skills and knowledge from these sessions in their work
- 0% of respondents left sessions with blind spots or confusion
- 100% of respondents those evaluated left the sessions feeling able to put what they had learnt into practice
The Community Oncology team is made up of Dr Fiona Rawlinson, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Programme Director of Postgraduate Palliative Medicine at Cardiff University, Dr Mick Button, Consultant Oncologist at Velindre Cancer Centre and Dr Elise Lang, Macmillan GP, North Cardiff. Sessions also included presentations by GPs, Oncologists and specialists from local University Health Boards.
