Erasmus & international exchange enrolment information

In order to become a student of the University and begin your studies you must complete enrolment.

The Enrolment Team in the Academic Registry will contact you three weeks before your exchange programme begins, asking you to complete online enrolment via SIMS.

Please complete online enrolment and school enrolment in order to enrol successfully as a Cardiff student.

Online enrolment

Your first step to becoming a student at Cardiff University is to complete online enrolment.  You should complete this step as soon as possible once you have been sent your enrolment email.

School enrolment/induction

School welcome event: the School will organise an induction & welcome event for Erasmus & international students on Tuesday 22nd September at 10:00. Location: Law Building, room 2.27 (campus map ref. 28). All Erasmus & international exchange students are required to attend this event where you will meet the Erasmus Coordinator and other staff from the School and find out what you need to do now that you’ve arrived in Cardiff

Welcome Social Event for Erasmus Students: Friday 25th September social drinks reception in rooms 0.41 + 0.42 in the School of Modern Languages (map ref: 24) from 4pm onwards. The social drinks reception will welcome both our returning Final Year cohort and visiting Erasmus students.

One semester only: Student visiting the School for one semester are required to enrol for 60 Cardiff credits, with at least 40 of these credits taken within School of Modern Languages.

Full year: You will need to enrol for 120 Cardiff credits if visiting for the full academic year, with at least 80 of these credits taken within School of Modern Languages. Please note that one Cardiff credit is worth 0.5 ECTS so that 120 Cardiff credits are the equivalent of 60.

Modules: A range of modules in the School of Modern Languages and across the University are available to Erasmus and international exchange students.

Please note that you may take credits outside the School of Modern Languages, but studying in other schools is not compulsory. If you wish to select modules run by another school you will need to seek approval from that school. You should seek approval before submitting your module selection via SIMS.
Please note the deadline for submitting your modules via SIMS and/or making changes to modules is:

  • Autumn Semester: Friday 16th October 2015
  • Spring Semester: Friday 12th February 2016
