Staff from across the School of Modern Languages are supporting a film festival this October which brings a taste of Africa to Wales.

The Watch Africa festival starts this Friday, 2 October and is a celebration of the best of African cinema. Running through October and November in eight venues across Wales, the festival will focus on the three main themes of Young Africans, From Africa with love and the North Africa Spring.

The festival is part-funded by the School which has a strong interest in contemporary Africa through the work of staff members Prof Gordon Cumming, Dr Rhian Atkin and Dr Rachael Langford. Staff from the School will be involved in talks, presentations and Q&A sessions around the films screenings.

In total 23 films will be shown during the festival which aims to promote intercultural understanding, social cohesion, and discussion and education about Africa in Wales.

Visit the Watch Africa Festival website for further information and a programme of events.
