Love Grangetown 2018 to celebrate community-university partnerships

25 Ebrill 2018

The annual celebration Love Grangetown kicks off this Saturday 28 April at Grange Pavilion, Grange Gardens with live music, craft and free activities for all the family to celebrate the success of community-university partnerships and to plan for future ventures.

Starting in 2015 as a consultation with the community on their visions for Grangetown and how the university could work in partnership with residents to realise these visions, Love Grangetown has gone from strength to strength and is now a much valued celebration of achievements as well as a forum to generate new ideas and partnerships for the Community Gateway project to pursue.

This year's event involves a closed morning consultation and feedback event for researchers and participants that answered a survey on people's historic relation with Grangetown and it's future. This will be followed by a free event open to all in the afternoon from 14:00.

Love Grangetown's afternoon session at Grange Pavilion will include a wide range of stalls and activities run by project partners under each of Community Gateway's nine themes: Clean Streets & Green Spaces, Friendly Communities, Communication without Barriers, Community Meeting Places, Work and Shop Locally, Safe Grangetown, Road Respect, Healthy Grangetown and Youth Provision. Residents will have the opportunity to take part in activities and craft based on these themes and register their interest to volunteer or participate in projects or attend events.

There will also be an opportunity to sample amazing coffee and treats from The Hideout Cafe in Grange Pavilion and enjoy them while watching performances from local talent that this year includes singers Leighton Jones (The Voice UK), Thoby Davis, Sonny Double 1 and Reuel Elijah, dancer Tiny Shubs and beat boxer Nyall Gray.
