Centre for Sustainable Building Conservation
The Centre for Sustainable Building Conservation, hosted in the Welsh School of Architecture, sets out to address critical challenges for the future care of built heritage with respect to climate change and social and environmental sustainability.
Overview
Alongside an MSc programme which has run since 2013, a series of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and government funded research projects have specifically addressed issues of maintaining heritage in the public domain, the role of digital documentation for contested heritage, life cycle analysis and Smart Heritage Building Performance Measurement for Sustainability (HBIM), the correlation of maintenance with sustainability, and the technical challenges of thermally upgrading timber framed buildings.
