Dr Catrin Wood

Catrin Wood joined the School of Computer Science and Informatics in November 2019 as the Administrative Assistant at the National Software Academy, and in March 2022 moved into her current role on the Student Experience team.

Catrin’s work is focused on student experience, well-being, communications and feedback. Her team implements initiatives to ensure that students have an opportunity to embrace the University experience, provide feedback on their course and School, and have access to a network of contacts to provide them with guidance on support services.

Catrin is the Welsh Language Champion in COMSC and she also sits on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, helping to ensure that the School has an open and inclusive community. She is part of the Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team that is currently working on the School’s Sliver Award application.

Having completed a doctorate at the University of Nottingham in 2020, Catrin moved to Bristol and worked at the University of the West of England as Research Manager in the Bristol Business School. After having children, she returned to work as a Teaching Assistant in her local primary school, before moving back into University administration at Cardiff.

Catrin has been a governor at two schools and has been a member of the University Council since August 2023.
