Stoma Care Day
Starts: 16 October 2013
A promotional afternoon to help raise the profile of stoma care and the role of the nurse.
This event has been designed by tutors at the School of Healthcare Studies' Caerleon Clinical Skills Lab and the Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialists from the University Hospital of Wales with the following objectives in mind:
- Identify the importance in the role of the nurse in stoma care
- Recognise the different types of stoma and associated products
- Recognise abnormalities in the different types of stoma
- Improve knowledge of stoma care through simulation
- Be able to articulate nursing and care issues around stoma care
We hope that by attending this event you will be able to explore this very important area of nursing in a unique clinical environment.
To help support the day we are very lucky to have in each room a clinical nurse specialist in stoma care working alongside an expert patient. Over several 30 minute sessions you will be able to listen to presentations and demonstrations around the different types of stoma and have a chance to ask questions of the guest speakers.
