Radiography: Diagnostic Radiography & Imaging (BSc)
UCAS Code: B821 BSc/DradDiagnostic radiography is concerned with the production of high quality images to aid the diagnosis and evaluation of patients. Many different types of imaging modality are used by diagnostic radiographers and the technologies and roles involved are continually developing. Diagnostic radiographers work closely with radiologists (doctors who specialise in diagnostic imaging) and other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive diagnostic imaging service with a high level of patient care.
The work is varied and includes conventional radiography (X-rays), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound scanning, radionuclide imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A diagnostic radiographer may be required to work in different areas of the hospital dependent on the location of the patient. These areas include diagnostic imaging departments, accident & emergency, operating theatres and wards.
