Open doors for Open Day

22 Ebrill 2013

Students interested in studying at Cardiff University will be able to get a taste of what student life is like at one of Britain's leading universities.

The Cardiff University Open Day is taking place on Wednesday 24th April and will welcome over 5,000 students and parents, making a total of over 8,500 visitors on campus to gain first-hand experience of life at the University and the City.

From Chemistry to Social Sciences, Engineering to Healthcare Studies, there are opportunities for students to visit academic schools to find out more about the courses on offer as well as getting advice on admissions. Current students are on hand to explain what life is like at Cardiff University and drop-in advice shops will give visitors the chance to put questions to the University's expert staff.

April Open Day is the first of four university-wide Open Days for 2013. New for this year is an expansion of the tours around the Heath Park campus where Schools of Nursing and Midwifery and Medicine will be opening their facilities to show the clinical skills and simulation suites that students can benefit from whilst they're here. Another new Open Day feature of 2013 is the student-led films which will be screened in the Council Chamber at Main building. The films will introduce the Halls of Residences, the educational facilities and the capital city itself all through the eyes of the students. Visitors can also see the facilities for themselves by touring the campus either on foot or on the free shuttle bus service operating throughout the day.

The Open Day event is primarily for Year 12 students prior to submitting a university application. There is a drop in session for mature students considering undergraduate study at Cardiff University where current mature students will be available to answer questions

The Open Day runs from 9.00am – 3.30pm and will allow students to:

  • tour the campus (including Heath Park Campus)
  • tour the city
  • see the Students' Union
  • visit student residences
  • visit academic school buildings and speak to admissions tutors
  • attend subject specific talks
  • attend general talks such as Student Finance, UCAS and Applying and more
  • drop-in to our advice shops
