Research Interests
Recent areas of interest have included the development of a range of conceptual environmental design software, including tools for the analysis of shading design, solar access, psychrometrics, human comfort, environmental noise, room acoustics, thermal performance and lighting simulation. Many of these, including the ECOTECT software, are available for download at the Square One website.

This work also included the design and development of a Life-Cycle Assessment tool, LCAid, completed as part of research carried out for the Department of Public Works and Services in Sydney. Work is currently ongoing to add Life-Cycle Costing functions to this software.

As part of his research, Dr Marsh has also produced a set of online environmental design notes for use by both students and architectural practitioners. These notes were undertaken initially to augment the help files of his software.
