Visitor parking
We encourage members of the university community (including visitors) to travel to the university using sustainable modes of transport.
We do however acknowledge that is not always possible, and that some visitors will need to travel to campus using motorised vehicles.
We encourage the use of electric or hybrid vehicles for this purpose wherever possible. Our car parks are controlled by ANPR camera technology and/or foot patrol.
Visitor parking is not available during Open Days or other large, on-campus events.
Pre-bookable pay-as-you-go parking
Pre-bookable PAYG parking is available for use by visitors (as well as staff and contractors) from 07:00-00:00 (midnight) Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
PAYG bays must be booked in advance of arrival using ‘RingGo’ via app or website.

To prevent misuse, RingGo location codes required to pre-book PAYG bays are only available on the university intranet and will change at regular intervals throughout the year. Your host/university contact will provide you with the location code(s) to use to book.
These codes are not the codes displayed on car park signage for Public Pay for Parking out of hours.
Book early. The number of bays is limited and demand is high.
Charges
- Half day (4.5 hrs from your selected booking time) = £3
- Full day (up to midnight) = £6 (Above sign at all other car parks)
Park in a red marked bay clearly signed:
- ‘Pre-booked Staff Only’ (Maindy Road Only), or
- ‘Pre-booked, & public pay for parking out of hours’
Off-peak public parking
Certain car parks are available for use by visitors and the public during off-peak hours (16:00-07:00) Monday to Friday and all-day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Tariff boards in the parking area where public parking is provided display a RingGo location code for public use. Users are able to pay for parking using the RingGo app, website or RingGo pay by phone service.
Accessible parking
Visitors who are Blue Badge holders are required to provide their registration number to the Travel, Transport and Parking Services Team by emailing carparking@cardiff.ac.uk no later than 24 hours after their arrival.
Those with a Blue Badge are eligible to park in an accessible parking bay or a general parking bay, free of charge, subject to a valid Blue Badge being clearly displayed in the vehicle windscreen.
Accessible parking bays are identifiable by yellow markings and clearly signed ‘Blue Badge parking only’.
Pick up/drop off
There are pick up/drop off bays and zones across campus. These can be used by anyone for a maximum stay of up to 30 minutes.
There is no charge for use.
