International Study Centre Progression Scholarship
The International Study Centre Undergraduate Progression Scholarship offers awards from £2,000 - £3,000 for students progressing from the Cardiff University International Study Centre onto eligible undergraduate degree programmes.
Students progressing from the International Foundation Year (IFY) and International Year One (IY1) programmes may be eligible for funding on successful completion of their ISC pathway programme.
How to apply
No separate scholarship application is required. If you are holding an offer for an eligible programme at Cardiff University and meet the criteria as set out in the terms and conditions, you will automatically be awarded the scholarship upon enrolment.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship you must:
- successfully complete your Cardiff University ISC programme in academic year 2025/26
- be classed as an international student for fee-paying purposes
- be self-financed and not in receipt of non-repayable funding from alternative sources
- be holding an offer for an eligible undergraduate degree* commencing in September 2026
- achieve the conditions of your Cardiff University offer by 7 September 2026
- applicants who do not meet the requirements of their Cardiff University offer will not be eligible for the scholarship even if they are accepted to the university
*All undergraduate programmes in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Healthcare are excluded from the scheme.
Terms and conditions
- The International Study Centre (ISC) Undergraduate Progression Scholarship is:
- a £2,000 award applied per year (applicable on each academic year of study up to 4 years). ISC International Foundation Year and International Year One students are awarded this upon successful progression to a Cardiff University degree programme and subsequent years.
OR - a £3,000 award applied per year (applicable on each academic year of study up to 4 years) for ISC International Foundation Year students who achieve an overall grade of 75% or higher in their IFY programme.
OR - a £3,000 award applied per year (applicable on each academic year of study up to 4 years) for ISC International Year One students who achieve an overall grade of 70% or higher in their IY1 programme.
- a £2,000 award applied per year (applicable on each academic year of study up to 4 years). ISC International Foundation Year and International Year One students are awarded this upon successful progression to a Cardiff University degree programme and subsequent years.
- Applications will be assessed on their final confirmed grades from the Cardiff University International Study Centre programme. Applicants who do not meet the requirements of their Cardiff University offer will not be eligible for the scholarship even if they are accepted to the university.
- The scholarship is for entry into Cardiff University in the autumn semester of the academic year 2026/27. If you are awarded a scholarship and wish to defer your entry to the University your scholarship may be transferable upon request whilst the International Study Centre (ISC Undergraduate Progression Scholarship scheme is available.
- Future requests for further funding will not be considered under this scheme. The scholarship cannot be used to fund repeat years.
- Applicants who are in receipt of any other scholarship, bursary, funding or discount will not be eligible for the scholarship.
- The scholarship is available for full-time and Cardiff campus-based taught programmes only. It is not available for placement, year in industry or study abroad years
- You must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee-paying purposes. If you are assessed as eligible to pay home fees as the result of a fee query, your fee status will be amended to home and you will not be eligible for the scholarship.
- The scholarship is only available to self-funded students. If you are in receipt of funding (consisting of either tuition fees or tuition fees and living costs) from an external body which will be invoiced by the University for fees (such as government, charity or a private organisation) you are not eligible for the scholarship. Students in receipt of educational loans are eligible for the award.
- The scholarship is not available to students who are initially awarded the scholarship but, following enrolment at the University, subsequently transfer to an academic programme which is not eligible for the award of the scholarship.
- Scholarships will be awarded to students holding offers on programmes of up to 4 years in length only. If you are studying on a five-year, funding will only be awarded for the first four years of study.
- You must be able to satisfy all financial requirements as part of your visa application for study in the UK. You should not be solely relying on receiving the scholarship to meet the UKVI financial requirements.
