Pharmacy alumni return to Cardiff for 35-year reunion

4 November 2026

More than three decades after graduating, 24 members of the School of Pharmacy's Class of 1992 returned to Cardiff for a reunion.

The reunion brought together classmates from across the UK and beyond, many of whom had not seen one another for several years.
Alumni enjoyed a tour of the University’s Pharmacy facilities in the Redwood Building and were shown around by the Head of School Professor Andrew Westwell, giving the group the chance to see first-hand how pharmacy education has evolved since their time at Cardiff.

Lisa Drinkwater (BPharm 1991), who helped organise the reunion, summarised the group’s feeling saying:

“It certainly was a trip down memory lane, and it was surprising how many things were the same – the lockers, lecture theatre and labs. But it was also great to see the new workshop and clinical rooms for the current curriculum!”

Mark Nevison (BPharm 1992), added the group’s thanks to Andrew directly for facilitating the tour:

“Everyone on the tour commented how kind it was of Andrew to give up his time on a Saturday to show us around. It was hugely appreciated by all.”

The visit was followed by a trip to the Woodville before reunion dinner, where conversations and memories from student life continued long into the evening.

During the dinner, alumni reminisced about lectures, laboratory classes, placements and social events that helped shape both lifelong friendships and successful careers in pharmacy, healthcare, industry and academia, with many reflecting on how their Cardiff education provided a strong foundation for their careers and personal development.
