Reunions

Organising an alumni reunion is a wonderful way to reconnect with old friends.

Whether you’re planning a full-scale reunion of your year group, a small dinner for the chess club or a networking event for computer scientists, we’d love to hear about your plans.

Below are some useful tips and links for organising your reunion:

• get started as soon as possible (at least 6 months in advance)
• form a small committee and share out tasks
• who would you like to invite? Alumni from a particular year group, course, club, society or hall of residence?
• what sort of event would you like to organise? A lunch, dinner, or an informal meeting in a pub?
• consider whether you want to include partners and families?
• where will you hold the event? Find details of University facilities and private hotels etc.
• think about how are you going to fund the event; are you going to sell tickets?
• will it be a one-off event or do you hope to put on other events if it goes well?
• are you happy for your contact details to be disclosed to alumni, so they can get in touch directly?
• how will you manage your guest list? Ticket Source is a free online platform that can help you promote your event, manage tickets and organise guest lists

Finding fellow alumni

The Alumni Relations team holds a database of Cardiff University alumni who have kept in touch with us. We can’t share any contact details due to data protection rules, but we can e-mail people on your behalf, as long as we have their permission. Contact us to find out more.

Planning your activities

If you would like to arrange a tour of your old School please let us know and we’ll help arrange it. There are lots of other attractions and activities that you can do whilst you’re in Cardiff.

Venues and catering

See the University’s conference service for details of lecture rooms, dinner venues and meeting spaces available to hire.
The Students’ Union is very pleased to welcome back alumni and can also provide dinners and buffets. Please contact SUEvents@cardiff.ac.uk

Accommodation

There is a wide choice of accommodation in Cardiff. During vacation times some University Halls of Residence are available for hire.

Promoting your reunion

It’s a great idea to create a Facebook event for your reunion – it’s easy to share and can really help to build excitement and encourage more people to attend. If you’re promoting via Facebook tag @CardiffUniAlumni in your posts or @CardiffAlumni on X (formerly Twitter).
