Pharmacy Class of 1965

The bond between Cardiff alumni is a lasting one - and for the 1965 graduates of the Welsh School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, it’s stronger than ever, six decades on.

In May, members of the BPharm Class of 1965 gathered in Cardiff to mark their 60th anniversary with a celebratory reunion. Barbara Stewart (BPharm 1965), née Roberts, helped to organise the event.

“The Class of 1965 love reconnecting in Cardiff, reminiscing and reaffirming friendships. Our abiding memories are of happy times at Cardiff University and gratitude for the excellent academic grounding we received at the School of Pharmacy.”

The group’s first reunion took place 25 years after graduation, in 1990. Since then, they’ve held at least half a dozen gatherings. This year’s anniversary culminated in a dinner at the Park Plaza Hotel, with alumni travelling from across the UK and beyond to attend.

Barbara added: “It was well-attended and we were thrilled to see how far some of our classmates had come to be there. Some achievement!”

Many of the group have gone on to enjoy successful careers across the pharmacy and wider healthcare sectors. Despite the decades since graduation, their pride in Cardiff remains. “Our BPharm degrees have stood us in good stead. We are very proud Cardiff alumni.”
