National Eisteddfod 2022

Success came for one of Cardiff University's postgraduate students this year at the National Eisteddfod. The main Science and Technology composition prize - the Invention and Innovation competition - was awarded in full to Bedwyr ab Ion Thomas. Read the full story.

The Urdd Eisteddfod 2019

In 2019, the Urdd National Eisteddfod was held in Wales’ capital city for the first time in a decade. The Medicines Discovery Institute joined the festival to share how the Institute’s scientists find new therapies and gave children and young people the chance to get hands on with medicines discovery.

Cardiff Science Festival 2019

The Medicines Discovery Institute took part in Cardiff Science Festival to share their work in finding new therapies to engage families with the process of drug development.

Scientists from the Institute took to the streets of Cardiff with interactive activities, to demonstrate how drugs are processed in the body and show how new compounds are discovered.

Tafwyl 2018

The Medicines Discovery Institute attended the Tafwyl Welsh language festival, sharing the science behind the development of therapeutics through the medium of Welsh.

National Eisteddfod 2018

The National Eisteddfod, a festival of Welsh culture, literature and language, came to Cardiff Bay in August 2018. Researchers from the Institute performed at the festival, celebrating Welsh scientific research and raising public awareness of their work.
