Entry requirements for Taiwan

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to ensure the welfare of our staff and students. Our staff won't be able to attend international exhibitions or events at this time but you can still get in touch.

Our entry requirements will vary depending on your level of study, the course you are interested in and your English language proficiency.

Foundation courses

If you have graduated from the national high school system, you may be required to successfully complete an International Foundation Year before entering our undergraduate courses.

Undergraduate courses

We will consider students who either have the GCE A-level qualifications or the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entry on to undergraduate courses.

If you hold the Senior High School Diploma with an average mark of 75%, and have completed a suitable foundation programme, you will be considered for admission to an undergraduate course.

I enjoy nights out with friends - locals and internationals. Living costs are relatively lower in comparison to many other places in the UK.

If you have a Junior College Diploma, you will also be considered for entry to the first or second year of our undergraduate courses. Your previous academic performance and work experience will be taken into account by the admissions tutors.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have a good bachelor's degree (at a minimum of 70% or minimum GPA of 3.0) from a recognised institution, to be considered for postgraduate study at master's level.

Postgraduate research courses

You will be considered for PhD study if you have a good master's degree from a recognised institution.

If you have completed a four-year undergraduate degree (at a minimum of 70% or minimum GPA of 3.0), you may also be considered for entry to our postgraduate courses.

English language

You will need to have a relevant English language qualification to satisfy the English language requirements for your course. The minimum admissions requirement is usually IELTS 6.5 but for some courses we may ask for higher grades.

You can improve your level of English language to meet the entry requirements for your course through our in-house English for University Study programme, a full-time course for international students planning to study at a UK university. The minimum entry requirement is IELTS 4.0 for September entry, 4.5 for January and 5.0 for April. The Exit Test results from this course are accepted as IELTS equivalents for entry to all degree courses at Cardiff University.

We also offer summer pre-sessional courses for applicants with academic offers that are conditional on improving their level of English language proficiency.
