I began working at Cardiff University in April 2015 as a Research Associate in the Centre for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions for Public Health Improvement (DECIPHer). My role is to primarily contribute towards DECIPHer's research programmes, improving child health outcomes.
Previously I worked as a Research Assistant within the College of Medicine at Swansea University for 5 years. My role involved working on a new birth cohort study, 'Growing Up in Wales' in which I recruited families across the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University (ABMU) NHS Board and carried out data collection and analyses. In 2009, I was awarded a CHIRAL studentship to undertake a full time PhD on the Growing Up in Wales study, focusing on early life intervention components for childhood obesity. Prior to my commencing my PhD, I completed an MSc in Physical Activity and Health at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I was awarded a Sports Scholarship to complete my MSc and was involved in the running of a secondary-school based intervention, which aimed to incorporate physical activity into main stream curriculum lessons.

I worked as a part-time lecturer from 2008-2010 within the School of Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The modules I taught included; Applied Sports Principles and Techniques and Games Applications.
With an epidemiological background and training in quantitative analyses, I am particularly interested in identifying factors amenable to childhood obesity prevention methods. I am interested in early-life exposures, family dynamics and the use of routine data for life course research. I also have a keen interest in understanding factors which influence children's physical activity levels and strategies to increase levels.
