Three SOCSI papers nominated for prestigious SAGE prize

Papers by Cardiff School of Social Sciences (SOCSI) academics have been nominated for an innovation in research prize.
The SAGE Prize for Innovation and Excellence is awarded annually to one paper in each of the British Sociological Association's journals: Cultural Sociology, Sociological Research Online, Sociology, and Work, Employment and Society.
Three SOCSI papers have made the shortlist from all of the papers published in 2013 in the journals listed above:

Stuart Tannock (co-authored with Mayssoun Sukarieh), 'On the Problem of Over-researched Communities: The Case of the Shatila Palestinian Refugee Camp in Lebanon' vol.47.3:494
Luke Sloan, Matthew Williams, Adam Edwards, William Housley (co-authored with Jeffrey Morgan, Pete Burnap & Omer Rana): 'Knowing the Tweeters: Deriving Sociologically Relevant Demographics from Twitter', Sociological Research Online
The prize is awarded to the paper judged to represent innovation or excellence in the field. The prize is £250 worth of SAGE books or a free annual individual subscription to a journal of the winner's choice. The winning papers will also be made available for free electronically for a limited time to encourage usage and citation.
The winners will be announced in spring 2014.
