Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture has been ranked sixth for Communications and Media Studies in the Times Good University Guide 2020.

The Guide, which looked at ninety-five UK universities, also classed the School as the best in Wales.

The accolade comes after a top five place for the sixth year running in the Guardian’s University League Table for Journalism and Public Relations and twenty-fifth position globally for Communications and Media studies in the QS World Rankings by Subject.

Head of School, Professor Stuart Allan said, “We are pleased to see the latest Times ranking continues to confirm our status as one of the UK’s leading Schools in our subject area.”

“This result reflects our commitment to teaching that is enriched by our research expertise and profession-led priorities across a diverse array of media in the communications realm.”

“These rankings represent important achievements, but they tell only part of the story. We also evaluate our progress based upon the growth and development of our students, and the impact of our work on the wider community.”

The ranking builds upon the School’s first full year in Two Central Square, a new custom state-of-the-art building situated in the heart of Cardiff’s media community.

Professor Allan added, “Two Central Square’s surroundings and impressive facilities have greatly enhanced our students’ learning experience and opened many new opportunities.”

The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide is published annually.
