Cardiff Professors to offer expert advice on the Welsh Government’s food policy.

The Public Policy Institute for Wales (PPIW) has commissioned PLACE Director, Professor Terry Marsden and Professor Kevin Morgan to offer expert advice on the Welsh Government’s food policy.
Professor Marsden and Professor Morgan will review the current food strategy for Wales and the subsequent ‘Action Plan for the Food and Drink Industry 2014-20’. In particular Professor Marsden and Professor Morgan will explore how the Welsh Government’s food policy fits with the Future Generations Act and addresses issues of food poverty and the impact of food production and consumption. This work will be completed early next year.
Professor Terry Marsden is Professor of Environmental Policy and Planning in the School of Planning and Geography and Director of PLACE, the Sustainable Places Research Institute at Cardiff University. Terry has been special advisor for the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Development Committee (2012) and a member of the Welsh Government’s Food, Farming and Countryside Strategy Group (since 2008).
Professor Kevin Morgan is Professor of Governance and Development in the School of Planning and Geography at Cardiff University. He has a keen interest in food and sustainability and has been a member of the Food Ethics Council, the Food and Farming Advisory Panel of the Welsh Government and the Bristol Food Policy Council.
