Professor Richard Ablin visits Cardiff

12 Gorffennaf 2017

Professor Richard Ablin

CCMRC was honoured to welcome internationally renowned scientist, Professor Richard J Ablin back to Cardiff to be the keynote speaker at CCMRC’s ‘Pioneers in Modern Medicine’ event, held on 11th July 2017 at the University Hospital of Wales.

Cardiff University staff and students, along with members of the general public, listened to Professor Ablin deliver a talk entitled ‘PSA: People Seeking Answers’. Prof Ablin discovered prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in 1970, which led to the development of the PSA test. Professor Ablin’s book, The Great Prostate Hoax, contends that millions of men’s lives had been, and continue to be permanently damaged, because of their physician’s interpretation of the PSA test results, which do not diagnose prostate cancer.

Other speakers from Cardiff University included Professor Robert Mansel, Professor Malcolm Mason, Professor Keith Harding, Professor Angela Casini and Professor Awen Gallimore.

This event, generously sponsored by a Life Sciences Research Network Wales Endeavour Grant, received exceptional feedback.

Professor Richard J Ablin PhD, DSc (Hon), Dr h.c. is from the Department of Pathology, University of Arizona College of Medicine, in Tucson, Arizona.
