Session 1, 13:00-13:50: Focus Group

A focus group session for exchanging experiences, insights, and challenges of teaching Religious Studies and Religion, Values and Ethics. There will be a specific focus on how the philosophical element of the curriculum can be more beneficially integrated with the religion content on the GCSE and A Level syllabuses.

Tea and coffee

Session 2, 14:10-15:10: Philosophical Techniques

An introduction to philosophical techniques and how to apply these to the elements of RVE which involve evaluating arguments for and against different views (religious, non-religious, or philosophical) in a balanced, focused and concise manner.

Session 3, 15:10-1600: Religious Studies Talk

An interactive talk with Religious Studies lecturers following on from the main points raised in the focus group. This session will focus on how to integrate RVE content more effectively, for example by making more use of narrative techniques which enable pupils to better assimilate the information and understand its personal, social, and real-world relevance.
