Teams of students will be challenged to design, build and program their own smart micro-greenhouse.

The Urban Farming Project draws on a variety of STEM skills with a blended learning approach.

This activity includes learning in geography, science and maths, to promote a wider teaching audience and participation.

This is a fully-resourced STEM challenge and once signed up, schools will receive a complete ‘Urban Farming Class Pack’. This includes six team kits which include:

• BBC.Micro:bit Environmental control board Water pump and rubber tubing
• soil moisture sensor and three rechargeable batteries
• solar panel and two servo motors.

Schools will receive the class pack for the duration of the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) project.

STEM Ambassadors from Cardiff University will be on hand throughout the project to assist teams and provide any additional support required.
