Graduate documents for studies completed before 30 Sept 2005
Request graduate documents including letters, transcripts, certificates, references, verifications and more.
These services are for former Cardiff University students who completed their studies before 30 September 2005, including those from predecessor institutions which now form part of the Cardiff University alumni body.
The University of Wales was the degree-granting authority for many Cardiff University predecessor institutions. Where required, we partner with the University of Wales to support you.
Some email and print options are available. The complexity of record-keeping from predecessor institutions can mean these services may require significant time to fulfil. Please read service descriptions and contact instructions carefully, so we can respond to your request as quickly as possible.

What we cannot provide
- Proof of Award / transcripts for undergraduates prior to 1 October 1998, or all other graduates prior to 1 October 2005. Unfortunately neither Cardiff University nor the University of Wales can provide documents for graduates, whose awards predate electronic records. Paper records were not retained during university mergers in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Please review other options to verify your academic status.
- We cannot certify or stamp print documents. See UK Government information about document certification and legalisation.
As a Cardiff alum you can access exclusive benefits and support to help you develop your career, build your network, and further your education.
