Research Design (PD1)
This module aims to equip doctoral candidates with a knowledge and understanding of the principles of research design and their applications appropriate to a particular professional field. You are encouraged to reflect critically on the relationship between the objects of enquiry within your professional field, the construction of research questions and the appropriate methods of inquiry. There is an opportunity to evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of research designs employed in social science research and to develop practical skills in research design and the construction of research proposals. The module addresses the relationships between theory, method and application, the politics and ethics of social research and comparative research.
