Research Profile

Dr Ian Welsh

    • Current Projects reflect my primary research interest in social movements and social change relating to science, technology and the environment. Recent work has focussed on issues raised for ‘natural’and ‘social’sciences by complexity theory. The relationship between Globalisation and Complexity is a major theme of my work in the area of Social Movements. A key project here is assessing the significance of network actors within established fields of social movement intervention such as organised labour movements and environmentalism.
    • I am part of the ESRC funded Genomics Network based in CESAgen, a Cardiff / Lancaster collaboration. I am particularly interested in the relationship between biological and social difference in terms of both theory and  contemporary practices.
