Dr Paul Chaney 


Memberships / External Activities

Paul Chaney is co-editor of the academic journal Contemporary Wales and a member of the editorial management board of the journal Policy and Politics.

He is Welsh co-representative on the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Taskforce and Steering Group concerned with establishing the Commission on Equality and Human Rights (CEHR), a new single equality body that will replace the existing statutory GB equality commissions.

He is an associate fellow of the University of Glamorgan Centre for Border Studies.

Paul Chaney was formerly Welsh-medium lecturer at the Institute of Welsh Politics, Department of International Politics, University of Wales Aberystwyth.

Teaching Profile

Paul Chaney is convenor of Cardiff University’s MSc/ Integrated PhD Degree scheme in Equality and Diversity (constituent taught modules include: SIT060 ‘Promoting Equality: Managing Diversity; SIT061 Mainstreaming Gender Equality; SIT062 ‘Inclusive Governance’).

He teaches Masters modules in: Education (SIT021 Managing Educational Institutions; SIT027 Leadership and Policy in Education) and Public Sector Management (SIT297 / PD9).

On the undergraduate programme he teaches on the year two Social Research Methods course (SI0030) and ‘Power, Politics and Policy’ (SI0189). The latter is concerned with the way in which social priorities are identified and addressed by the political processes operating in contemporary systems of governance.

He is supervisor to a number of students on the Professional Doctorate and Masters Programmes.
