Funding Your Studies

 

There are numerous ways that you can obtain financial assistance to fund your studies.

Undergraduate Scholarships and Funding

Your first port of call for funding advice and assistance should be your local education authority. They will have all the information on government and university financial assistance and can tell you how to apply.

The University awards a number of scholarships to the best qualified students each year and engineering is one of the Schools that has been given a number of special scholarships. These scholarships are allocated on academic merit and will be made available on enrolment. You will automatically be considered and no application is necessary. In addition, Cardiff students studying in the electrical and electronic disciplines can apply for Power Academy scholarships. Cardiff is one of six universities chosen to be part of the Power Academy which provides assistance to students for tuition fees and living costs. The UK Electronic Skills Foundation offers scholarships to selected UK and EU undergraduate students studying BEng and MEng degrees in electronic engineering at partner universities. Cardiff School of Engineering is one of seven partner universities which are part of the Foundation, along with a number of electronics companies such as ARM, dialog Semiconductor, C-MAC Microtechnology, CSR, and Imagination Technologies. Students enrolled on the Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering degree programmes will be eligible to apply for a scholarship.

Students can apply for a scholarship in any year of their degree except the final year. Successful scholars will benefit from an annual bursary, work placements, mentoring and workshops. To find out more or to apply for a scholarship please visit www.ukesf.org

There are also opportunities for sponsorship from a number of companies who will provide help with tuition fees and other costs, as well as providing summer placement opportunities.

Postgraduate Scholarships and Funding

Cardiff University awards a number of prestigious President's Scholarships each year for students wishing to study for a PhD. For details of this year's President's Scholarships in Engineering please visit our Presidents Scholarships page.

International Student Scholarships

Cardiff School of Engineering provides scholarships of £1,500 to selected international undergraduate or MSc students when they choose to come to Cardiff. It is not necessary to apply for these scholarships. They will be allocated by the Admissions Tutor to selected high quality students who have no other form of sponsorship.
