Our world-leading research delivers improvements to the health and wellbeing of society.

We focus on the themes of tissue engineering, reparative dentistry, applied clinical research, public health and learning and scholarship. Our publications reflect these themes.

We have various centres and groups which carry out specialised research, including the Violence and Society Research Group, which won the Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2010 for its research on violent crime.

Our projects are funded by a variety of sponsors, including the Welsh Government, Arthritis UK, the Medical Research Council and the Royal Society. The projects have real impact, from developing ways to overcome drug resistance to providing a benchmark for those planning and implementing dental services for children.

Our staff and students have access to many facilities, including microscopes, a phosphorimager and a spectrometer.
