About us
We are the only dental school in Wales, providing unique and important leadership in dental research, teaching and patient care.
We are located at the University Dental Hospital on Cardiff University's Heath Park campus, a 53 acre site shared with the University Hospital of Wales.
Progressive healthcare education and patient care are successfully integrated with our research facilities in this major teaching and research centre. Our academic and clinical staff are recognised as being world-leading experts in their fields. They provide valuable clinical services to the people of Wales in addition to their academic responsibilities.

Rankings and reputation
The sizeable investment in staff and facilities in recent years has helped us achieve unprecedented levels of success:
- We were ranked 1st among UK dental schools by both the Guardian and the Times Good University Guide 2016
- Our 2015 National Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) indicated 92% overall student satisfaction. Whilst 100% indicated that our supervisors have the knowledge to support their research.
- Our world renowned research ensured we were ranked the top UK dental school in the 2014 Research Excellent Framework (REF)
- In 2009 our Violence and Society Research Group won the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education
