Designing our communities

Pupils of Grangetown and St Paul's primary schools visited the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University on 22 April, to see what architecture students do, and to tell us what they thought of a wide range of ideas generated by BSc Year 2 Architecture students for the conversion of Grange Gardens Bowls Pavilion and Bowls Green into a café and community garden. read more

Five third year students from the Welsh School of Architecture participated in a special Architecture Study Day connected to the exhibition 'LAND MARKS: Structures for a Poetic Universe' at the Hauser and Wirth Gallery in Somerset on Saturday 18th April. read more

Pro-environmental Behaviours in Supermarkets: An Observational Study of Carrier Bag Use in England and Wales

The project evaluates the introduction of the English plastic bag charge as a policy 'window of opportunity' for wider behavioural change. This is a unique opportunity for a student to learn to conduct policy-relevant research with a high impact potential. read more

Several positions are available in WSA for CUROP Undergraduate summer placements (for which MArch 1 WSA students are eligible), and engagement student internships for WSA undergraduate and graduate students. read more

New Desks for WSA Students Designed by WSA Students

Students studying on the BSc in Architectural Studies degree have recently been creating digital designs for student studio desks. Students worked on this project as part of the Design Principles and Methods 2 (DPM2) module as the WSA wishes to digitally manufacture 120 studio desks for its Year 2 and Year 3 students to furnish its newly refurbished studio space in Bute Building. read more

Low Carbon Architecture Summer Programme 2015

The Welsh School of Architecture is launching its third Low Carbon Architecture Summer Programme (LCASP) taking place from 25th July to 8th August 2015 in Cardiff, Wales, UK. A two week programme aimed at undergraduate architecture students keen to develop a UK/International experience in low carbon design.
