"I selected Cardiff University because it is a well recognised university."

Bushra Khan

I enjoyed studying at Cardiff as it enhanced my knowledge by sharing it with my peers in a socially friendly environment.

The most important lesson which I learnt was that in dermatology, the practice of knowledge-sharing is important because the more you share, the more you learn.

How did your study at Cardiff equip you for your current job?

I work for Global Medical Clinic in Kuwait. Cardiff University was a stepping stone in my career and due to that I gained confidence and knowledge to progress on to my MSc. Dermatology to become a Dermatologist in Kuwait.

Can you briefly take us through a day in your current job? What are your responsibilities? What industry do you work in and what is your specialty?

It mainly consists of managing a number of clinical and cosmetic Dermatology cases. An average day involves dealing with ethnic skin concerns, chronic skin conditions and a wide number of Cosmetic Dermatology cases.

Dermatologists must possess personal traits which help them deal with patient’s anxiety, disease and discomfort. Additional traits include a good bedside manner, a warm and approachable personality, friendly and confident demeanours and attention to a patient’s needs or concerns.

What advice would you give to prospective students?

I would recommend DPD to any prospective student who is thinking about coming to Cardiff. This programme is extremely valuable to make you academically strong, professional, and confident and a successful practitioner.
