Why did you choose Cardiff University?
I selected Cardiff University because it is a well recognised University and I knew it could help me attain good knowledge under the umbrella of professional and experienced tutors.
Can you tell us more about your programme at Cardiff University? What modules did you choose and what lessons have you learned?
I enjoyed studying at Cardiff as it enhanced my knowledge by sharing it with my peers in a socially friendly environment.
The most important lesson which I learnt was that in dermatology, the practice of knowledge-sharing is important because the more you share, the more you learn.
How did your study at Cardiff equip you for your current job?
I work for Global Medical Clinic in Kuwait. Cardiff University was a stepping stone in my career and due to that I gained confidence and knowledge to progress on to my MSc. Dermatology to become a Dermatologist in Kuwait.
Can you briefly take us through a day in your current job? What are your responsibilities? What industry do you work in and what is your specialty?
It mainly consists of managing a number of clinical and cosmetic Dermatology cases. An average day involves dealing with ethnic skin concerns, chronic skin conditions and a wide number of Cosmetic Dermatology cases.
Dermatologists must possess personal traits which help them deal with patient’s anxiety, disease and discomfort. Additional traits include a good bedside manner, a warm and approachable personality, friendly and confident demeanours and attention to a patient’s needs or concerns.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
I would recommend DPD to any prospective student who is thinking about coming to Cardiff. This programme is extremely valuable to make you academically strong, professional, and confident and a successful practitioner.
