Entry requirements for Tanzania

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to ensure the welfare of our staff and students. Our staff won't be able to attend international exhibitions or events at this time but you can still get in touch.

Our entry requirements will vary depending on your level of study, the course you are interested in and your English language proficiency.

Undergraduate courses

You will be required to have Tanzanian A-levels (Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education) with good grades in three primary subjects.

We will also consider applications with the International Baccalaureate.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have an undergraduate degree in a related field with good academic scores (usually the equivalent of an Upper Second grade or higher).

Work experience can also contribute towards gaining a placement in many subjects as well.

Postgraduate research courses

There are a number of possible entry routes to our postgraduate research courses. We will consider applicants who have successfully completed a Masters from a recognised institution.

In some cases, we will consider applicants who only have a Bachelor's degree (minimum Second Class, Higher Division), although applicants may be required to complete a Master's course at Cardiff University prior to embarking upon PhD studies.

English language

You will need to have a relevant English language qualification to satisfy the English language requirements for your course. The minimum requirement is usually IELTS 6.5 but for some courses we may ask for higher grades.

If you are unsure of your qualifications or entry requirements, please contact us.
