2023 Alumni 30(ish) Awards now open for nominations

Nominations for The 30(ish) Alumni Awards – which celebrate inspirational University alumni who are aged 30(ish) – are now open.
Alumni, staff, students, and members of the wider Cardiff community are invited to share inspirational stories of alumni trendsetters and changemakers who exemplify what it means to be Cardiff-made.
Following the success of the 2022 awards, The 30(ish) Awards are back for 2023, to celebrate and share the story of the change-makers, innovators, and rule-breakers in the Cardiff University alumni community.
30(ish) finalists who have made a positive contribution to their community will be celebrated, and all before they hit 30. Well, 30(ish).
Nominations are now open, so whether you’re putting yourself forward, or know of another game-changer who you think deserves recognition, get your nomination in before Monday 24 July.
Jasper Wilkins (BA 2017) is an award-winning producer, journalist, and photographer, who was recognised last year for championing accessibility through his work at UKTV.
All finalists will be invited back to Cardiff for The 30(ish) Awards event on Thursday 5 October, hosted by the University’s new President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wendy Larner. Forget traditional black tie – this is all about celebrating and connecting with like-minded bright sparks.
Last year, more than 30 exceptional alumni were recognised with awards for innovation, creativity, positive work in their community or for the environment, and excellence in their field. On the night, winners voted for the recipient of the ‘People’s Choice’ award. This was jointly won by Jessica Mullins (BSc 2011), who led a team to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic and Dr Samyakh Tukra (MEng 2017), who created an AI system that provides an early warning system for organ failure.
