Staff mentoring
About this topic
As a mentor, you can share and reflect on experiences at the same time as appreciating new perspectives and learning new skills.
The guidance and help of a mentor can help people achieve better levels of professional success. It can offer an essential means of support and inspiration at various points of an individual’s career progression.
A range of mentoring opportunities exist. These include:
Women in Universities mentoring
An all Wales scheme that aims to promote and facilitate professional and career development for women by setting up inter-university mentoring partnerships.
PgCUTL mentoring
Mentors play an important role in supporting participants on the PgCUTL programme by discussing discipline-specific applications of learning and teaching theory in addition to facilitating reflection by undertaking peer -review with their mentees.
College mentoring initiative
This aims to connect individuals across the institution to help provide appropriate support for people at different levels of progression and different career pathways.
To support the various mentoring programmes there are also a number of staff development programmes available.
