Fieldwork in Snowdonia

Snowdonia is home to some of Wales’ most beautiful glacial scenery, stunning mountains and coastal landscapes.

In this field course, our first-year geography students explore a previously glaciated catchment from source (in the mountains) to sink (at the sea).

You will learn the geomorphological and geographical methods to measure how the landscape has changed over time and use biogeochemical and sociological techniques to investigate human pressures on the system.

This field course provides an opportunity to develop the essential skills required to observe, describe, collect, interpret, and map geographical data. It delivers initial training on the measurement of topography, as well as developing basic practical skills in field observation, measurement, and record-taking to explain a range of geographical processes.
