Dr Yang joined the School of Engineering, Cardiff University in 2012 as an academic in the Health, Technology, and the Digital World research theme, which covers a broad framework for the research undertaken in the fields of biomedical and biological engineering, high frequency communications engineering, bioenergy techniques.

He has acted as the PI in several biomedical and bioenergy projects, has good track records of the publication on journal papers and conference proceedings. Dr Yang has also published eight books in the subjects of analogue and digital electronics, and embedded systems. Dr Yang has been supervising a number of PhD students undertaking the research in biomedical electronics, renewable techniques, and medical imaging.

Dr Yang’s current PhD supervision and research activities/interests include two areas:

  • Biomedical Engineering - Cancer diagnosis using RF and microfluidic techniques, medical imaging including ultrasound, MR, DXA, and PET techniques, and tele-medicine/mobile health using smartphones and wearable devices.
  • Renewable Engineering - Anaerobic digestion in organic waste treatment, bioenergy and environmental protection.
