Our supercomputers

Our two supercomputers, Hawk and Raven, can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.

Hawk

Hawk is our latest High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, providing a major enhancement  in resource compared to that offered by the previous system, Raven.

Our Hawk Linux cluster consists of 7,000 cores of Intel Skylake Gold 6148 processors (2.4GHz / 4.8GB per core / 20 cores per processor) as the main parallel MPI partition (including a High Memory, SMP section), with an additional 1,040 cores of Intel Skylake Gold as a serial/high throughput subsystem. Accelerated performance is available through additional P100 GPU nodes.

Hawk is configured with 46+TB of total memory across the entire cluster, with a 692 TB global parallel file storage managed by the Lustre file system and 420 TB NFS/home partition for longer-term data store. Nodes are connected with InfiniBand EDR technology (100Gbps / 1.0μsec latency).

Raven

Raven, the older Linux cluster, consists of 2,048 cores Intel Sandy Bridge processors (2.6 GHz / 4GB per core / 8 cores per processor) as the main parallel MPI partition (including a SMP section), with an additional 864 cores Intel Westmere (2.8GHz / 3GB per core / 6 cores per processor) as a serial/high throughput subsystem.

Raven is configured with 8+TB of total memory across the entire cluster, with a 50 TB global parallel file storage managed by the Lustre file system and 100TB NFS /home partition for longer term data store. Nodes are connected with InfiniBand QDR technology (40Gbps / 1.2μsec latency).
