Teachers courses
Interested in bringing Chinese language and culture to your classes, supporting your pupils with their learning, or simply discovering the language for yourself?
Online course
Our free Chinese Language & Culture for Teachers courses have been designed for busy teaching professionals in Wales. By the end of the programme, participants will not only have gained a solid basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, but have a portfolio of resources and lessons to use themselves.
The course
This free 28-hour course, delivered weekly by a tutor from the Cardiff Confucius Institute, focuses on introducing learners to basic Mandarin and Chinese culture. This will allow you to support your pupils with current or future learning, or simply discover the language for your own development. After each session, you will be given access to a recorded video of the session and the PowerPoint slides.
How it works
The course is divided into three stages, allowing teachers to join at a level appropriate to them:
| Course | Start dates | Weeks/hours |
|---|---|---|
| Taster | Autumn term | 4 hours |
| Part I | Spring term | 10-12 hours |
| Part II | Summer term | 12-14 hours |
Progression
Once you have completed the course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto Cardiff University’s Chinese for Beginners II course in September. This would be fully funded by Cardiff Confucius Institute, and allow you to work towards a ten-credit level 3 or 4 module in Mandarin Chinese.
