Research Integrity at Cardiff University

This seminar will highlight the main points of the University’s Research Integrity and Governance Code of Practice.

Abstract

The seminar will provide an introduction to the important principle of 'Research Integrity' and highlight the resources in place at Cardiff University to support staff and students to conduct research to the highest professional standards.

In particular, the seminar will summarise the main points of the University’s Research Integrity and Governance Code of Practice and address some of the key themes applicable across all research disciplines, alongside those of particular relevance to Computer Science.

Biography

Emma Cullen is the University's Research Integrity and Governance Officer, sitting within the Research Governance team of Research and Innovation Services.

Emma provides advice and guidance on all matters relating to research integrity and helps to ensure that the University has appropriate systems in place to support researchers to conduct research to the highest standards, as recommended by the Universities UK Concordat to Support Research Integrity.

Emma is an officer of the University Research Integrity and Ethics Committee (URIEC) and supports the University to develop and implement policies, guidance and training in key areas of research integrity. In particular, Emma works closely with URIEC to review and maintain the University's Research Integrity and Governance Code of Practice.

Emma also supports the wider Research Governance team to ensure the appropriate governance of clinical research and research involving human participants, tissue or data.
